Just finished re-watching the TV series of The Maxx the other day
good start, looking forward to it progressing.
Thanks man. I’m nailing down the concept for this one.
I’ve been meaning to go back and watch it again a while now. Good stuff.
Here’s more of a flushed out sketch what I’m shooting…

and some of the base meshes I made for sculpting

Here are some updates on Goliath. Mostly added in muscles. Still lots to do on the models. I havent gotten to the hands and feet yet. I’ll knock those out next.

It’s been a lil bit since my last post but here’s the where it’s at the moment.

There’s still some more details I need to work into the clothes and the hair needs some more work too. From there I think I’ll move on to posing then getting a base to sculpt the wings and more overall details if time allows.
Here’s my latest update
Still more to do on these guys

For the most part I’ve got them posed how I like. I’ve got to work on the pose for Elisa’s hands some more but I’m waiting till I have the gun finished and in place. Not 100% to the concept I made but I’m still liking how it’s turning out. Even though it’s supposed to be stylized there were some anatomical rules I was trying not to break.

The wires most likely wont turn out too good for this prop. Just trying to get this one knocked out quick. On the fence about trying to do hard surface sculpting for this or just finishing with good ol’ poly modeling.
Left to do - gun, wings need to be added, fix anything that went wonky while posing, and squeeze more detail in and refine with time left.
some more updates…
I ended up just poly modeling the gun. Gotta do some h surface sculpting practice when I get a chance.

Hi, how come you aren´t getting any feedback yet?..
Nice job so far…
I think the foots of the gargoyle are huge…i can´t see that they are like that in the comics…flying with those heavy stuff should be very difficult.
And the biceps are not looking good, you have like a sphere form in there, you could guide with some reference, and the upper arm is not connecting well with the forearm, right now is like the arm is breaking in two different pieces while it shouldn´t.
Good luck, very good sculpting overall!
Hey JM-art, thanks for the crit. Hmmm, no FB? Maybe I upset someone.:hmm: Lol, it’s all good. Also I read somewhere you either love or hate Sam Keith’s style. I’m a fan though
Regarding the feet, I kinda felt that was almost signature for the style. Massive feet on lots of his male characters that have insanely proportioned muscles. the Maxx, Lobo, Hulk, to name a few. I wanted to try and push that with Goliath since he already had huge feet.
Good point on the biceps. I’ll see about them as they prob don’t need to that round. If I don’t tweak for the challenge I’ll get to it after. I’d like to do some textures on this later so maybe then.
More setup…

Hi again…about the feet, if is a signature of the style and you want to push it, that´s is a pretty valid explanation of why they are so big, so that critic of mine just has no point already knowing all of this. And besides, they are providing great support for the also heavy part of torso/arms/wings, and they also contribute for a balanced shape composition that is good.
Nice update, and there is just one thing i would try, and is to de-inflate (thats a non existing term i know, but i don´t know the term) a little the hair of the woman which is dragging too much attention and is not correlating too well with the shape of the head…
Cheers man, again, very nice job.
Thanks for the look over JM- art, I did manage to squeeze in several tweaks before rendering and submission. I think the hair should come through a little better when lit.
