HMC#28: Comic Book Master Tribute - Lee Bermejo

#21

for more angry look jaw should be extended in front

#22

Looking good so far!
His anatomy needs some more work though, I’d say. For example, the lats don’t flow all the way from the outside straight to the inside of the spinal extensor as you currently have them, but attach diagonally across the back at their lower end (see here). Breaking the delts up into 3 heads might help you in getting the shapes right. Don’t think so much of the lines/shapes muscles create but more in terms of attachment points. The lines will practically take care of themselves if you do that.

Cheers!

#23

thanks felix, i thought the lats were a bit off…lol…and now i look at them they look quite wierd…so i’ll fix that for sure…

will also split the deltoids into the 3 heads, it was something i was planning on doing anyways

this weekend i might try and tighten up the anatomy in a few places (as above) and also give the poor bugger some clothes…

#24

well i’ve put some base meshes in for the clothes and roughed them in…

i think i might take a stab at posing it now before i sculpt it any further…

oh and the tummy roll is in there for after its posed…currently it looks like wolvie’s a bit out of shape…lol…

#25

and here’s the first pass

legs are a non event so far…i’ll work more on those tomorrow…

#26

Nice one buddy :applause:

#27

so someone pointed out to me that in my reference shot wolvie didn’t actually have a full beard and that it was a shadow of his mutton chops that was making me think he did…

so he now has a hairless chin and i’m much happier with it…

i also did a first pass at some wrinkles on the shirt…still needs work though…

and i still haven’t gotten to the pants…

and a closeup

#28

finally got some work in on the pants…still need to add the belt

#29

Nice progress man, it’s really turning out well. If you can I would suggest going back over the deltoids. I think you have them running a little further down the arm than they need to. You could maybe use the bottom of Wolverine’s pecs in the sketch as a point of reference where to end them. Lookin good.

#30

damn i hope i haven’t left it too late to finish…

i always do this…

this weekend i’ll be on it like 24/7…lol…

#31

update time

did some more detailling and fixed up a few things, added the claws and changed his expression slightly, its not as close to the one in the reference but it feels like it has more character than what i had previously

hope to have this finished on time

all that’s left to do is the fine details and the other hard surface bits (belt, shoes)

EDIT: it was pointed out that the left bicep is mighty massive…i’ll fix that…lol

#32

update

added some boots and fixed the bicep issue…

things still to do:

  • belt
  • veins
  • finish the pants off
  • back of the model (i only realised yesterday that i’d been focusing on the front…the back is currently a bit plain…lol)

(right click>view image for full size pic)

also here’s an interesting comparison

this is what all the basemeshes started out as for this model

#33

bit of an update, i’ve:

  • added the veins on the arms
  • added the belt
  • shortened the shoes to reduce the clown shoe effect
  • extended the canine teeth a little (hard to see)

have to fix:

  • the width of his left forearm…it got big at some point in the process
  • the back of the pants…

and then i think i might be done…yay…
