What a great topic!
I spent some time casting around for who I wanted to emulate, and I kinda wanted to do everyone, but after giving it some thought I want to go with Jamie Hewlett, who did the Tank Girl series, and also designed the Gorillaz characters:
It took me a while to think of a character too, originally I wanted to do something like a Gorillaz style batman, but I figured that was a bit obvious, so I thought about the characters that Hewlett’s chaotic style would fit, and eventually thought of Inspector Gadget:
I want to update his look though, as I think a big par of Hewletts appeal is the amazing outfits his characters have, so I’ve been casting around trying to come up with a cooler interpretation of how gadget might look:
This is my basic concept so far. I don’t have the skills to really match Jamie Hewletts amazing lineart, but hopefully I should be able to make a go of creating it in 3D:
