HMC #23: Ansel Adams Tribute: RvR

#1

hello,

It’s the first time I participate in here, I hope I’ll find enough time and the appropriated techniques for my idea.

I’m glad having discovered Ansel Adams thanks to this challenge, his photos are really impressive.

I’ve chosen the LA Freeway.
The idea is to imagine what the photo would have looked like if Adam had hold his camera more horizontally, to imagine what a whole landscape of these roads would look like, and to design a spot where these roads would converge.
I absolutely don’t know if this fits the challenge’s rules, nor do i know how much time it’ll take to model all these roads and buildings, but i have to try.

Here’s a first sketch, with the very basic ideas :

I’ve started with the roads from adams photography. There are still some details missing : The pillars from the bridges, roadsigns, and the cars. The groundplane between the roads was a real mess, it took a lot of time.
Next I’ll be working on the roads between the ones on the photo and the buildings. They’ll be a little less detailed
I have already some ideas of the city’s shape, even if I’ve not been working on them yet, I just threw some blocks to have an idea of the distances. I want It to look like a tree stump, as the roads remind me some roots you can find on Adams photos.

I did not had the time yet to go a lot further, as I have to finish a huge project for some easy cash

I’ll have some more time next week

Its a really nice idea you came up with there. And I like the modeling work you got done so far, it looks cool. I hope you will find time for both projects your working on so you can finish this as well  Look forward to more updates.
