HMC #22: Classic Self Portrait: Magdalena Dadela

Oh yeah, I’ve sort of ignored decimation master. Guess it’s worth playing with though. Does it work with 3.5r2? I’ve noticed some of the 3.1 plugins have issues. Particularly subtool master. Anyway, glad I asked and glad you pointed it out. I feel a bit silly having not tried it yet.

#122

no none of the plugins work with 3.5r2 - that’s why I’m still mostly working in 3.1  - 3.5 was used for the hair [zspheres2] and the small andirons sculpts - otherwise it’s all 3.1

I love decimation master and we’ve used it in production too [for non-animatable stuff] 'cause you can decimate by 99% and still keep almost all the detail and keep the UVs which is most important - it’s awesome

#123

Magdalena you are doing a wonderful job I love those foldings ! We still wait for the cat update  and about zbrush. Decimation master was really a blessing but since I’m a max users and neverd had too much luck I’m waiting for GoZ

#124

Great progress , can’t wait to see it all in xsi.

#125

looks great / but I cant wait to see your next model

#126

I love the folds and creases in her clothing. Awesome stuff! :D:)

#127

thank you guys - I had almost no time to work on this these past few days - hopefully will find some today to finish the cat

cheers

#128

a bit more on all sides - I think I’ll leave the cat very sketchy - with just a bit of texture modeling… to be honest you can’t really see him well and I’d rather correct and finish her clothes… Next time final renders I think:)
The pic is small because I didn’t want to stretch the thread too much - here’s a link to a bigger version

#129

what can I say
just awesome:bowdown:

#130

wow! what can i say , that is just superb cloth sculpting.excellent work ma’am!
cheers,
d

#131

Stretch the thread, you know you want too :D.

Well done Mag. She looks stunning. The dress is my favourite.

#132

Awesome work!

Only comment I have is that the cat is a little too close to the fireplace, a cat would never lay that close. move it to the side or away just a little and it feels more natural

#133

Just stunning! That’s all I can say. I’m too stunned.

#134

Oh nice, I hadn’t noticed the shawl until you posted the different angle.

I like pictures that give you more the more you study them.

#135

maybe just put the cat inside the fireplace and don’t bother with it anymore.

#136

arun-nagar - thank you

Maya-Damien - thanks a lot

Brett - thanks

Sinister - thank you, yes I’ll move him heheh

Paul4Wood - thanks very much, I appreciate this

WyattHarris -

Nothingness - nah, the dog’s in there already

a bit of an update today after all… experimented with a bit of texture on the skirt [it was a pain]… I like the result …

#137

Wow again! The stripes on the undulating skirt must have been a bit of a nightmare but it looks fabulous.

#138

Dang, that looks great! :eek:How’d you do it?

Cheers!

#139

thanks guys  well I used ZApplink to make a texture - projected the stripes from many directions so they wouldn’t stretch too much. Then I used that texture in Zbrush - made an Alpha of it, masked the skirt by alpha and used the Inflate function in the deformation tab  - it took time but worked quite well.

#140

It was time well taken, because it looks great.
