HMC#20 - Expressions Van Damme

#1

ok this seems like a cool place to finally start a real project. I’ll be doing Van Damme

so here’s my base.

#2

Recognizeable but I would work on it more. Good start!

#3

Cool choice and great start!

I agree with nfuchs that you should work on the likeness some more though. The brow region ie is way to strongly accentuated.

Cheers!

#4

Lol! You giving him the mullet from hard target? Good start on the likeness

#5

here’s a little update. feels like i’ve almost got the likeness. gonna play with it a little more tho befor i start posing.

#6

this is going to be the final base. i’m so excited to get to the modeling.

#7

Looking good. Don’t forget the lump on his forehead. Just below the hairline on his right :). Its one of the things that always stood out when I watched a van damme movie. Blood sport ftw!

#8

The last few updates are major improvement. He looks easily recognizable now.
BTW, that is a fearsome mullet he’s got.

#9

finally got an expression.

#10

and another

#11

so i took all of what you guys said and decided to go back and try to redo this one with a little more thought on tryin not to stretch any lines too extreme.

#12

its really hard to find many differences in the required expressions is what i’m beginning to find out.

#13

I agree  it’s hard to differentiate them well and I came up with some just to realize they’re not there hhehe… You really got down the likeness very well. As for the expressions - be careful to think about the muscles under the skin and not pull too much on the corners of the mouth that it makes it feel like rubber. Keep it up

#14

yeah i was kinda feeling that too on the last one. but VD doesn’t really have a rejected/sad face.

#15

Nice job. I like the first expression but the others kinda look like the features were just strechted into place. Also for the a sad or rejected face have you seen his newest movie and probably his best “JCVD”? He’s pretty sad and angsty through the whole movie and even cries. He’s pretty amazing in it i didn’t expect something so serious and good to come from him considering most of his movies have been straight to dvd B flicks

#16

sorry that update didnt post correctly.

#17

Great work here, but careful with the extreme poses. In the last images he really does look a little bit like he’s wearing a rubber-mask for a face.

Yep, he does too! Check out “AWOL/Leon”. You might also find something in “The Quest”, as well as in “Double Impact”. There’s some nice contrast between the twins he plays in the latter.

Cheers!
