Sweet! You got the likeness in fast. The only thing that seems to stand out to me in the latest update is the slope of that head at the back, seems almost like he’s missing a bit of skull there. I suppose the point is fairly moot if you’re putting hair on him though…

Heres the update so far. I’ve modeled the teeth, the sock and the tongue. Sooo ye, I’ll probably work on the likeness more.

Looking very great. But only thing i still find very strange is the position of the eyes. It’s that or the nose it not really correct.
I think the eye and the forehead are too much to the back. I believe this is a problem you rapidly get when you base the model on perspective images.
If you would see him shot from a a camera with a large zoom, you’ll notice that the face starts looking so much different.

I just checked the pictures of him again, and still am confident that this is an issue.

Just another note:

The image you used for the side, isn’t perfectly sideways. So because of this you get kind of wrong proportions. One think you should see, is that because it’s not perfectly sideways, the eyes look to be more to the back then they actually are. Same for the nose where you tend to make it stick out a bit too much.
In that way, the same happens to the mouth and chin.
And i think the eyes also need to get a little down too.

maybe good to check this out. I’m not saying this is so. But i believe it is.

Thanks Nothingness. Think your right. I’ve adjusted the model. His entire face is off. Just goes to show. You can model from ref. But won’t get you the result. I’ll post updates when I can. Work has krept in so won’t get a chance at this for a bit.

Most of the time working on it too much looses your global view on it all. I have the same probs sometimes. But keeping this in mind can prevent a lot of extra work :wink:

Ok so here’s the ups. I reworked the topo on the mouth. As well as did some zbrush work on him. Also trying to get a better likeness of him. I gotta say. I never struggled this much on a face. haha.

For now, the top of the ear is the only thing that catches my eye. The ‘rim’ seems a little thin.

For the rest… it’s looking great.

Lookin really great. I like how subtle the skin is. You see all too often people getting a little heavy-handed with the pores. I can appreciate this style but it is nice to see something that really looks like skin.

looking very good there Brett - I’d say the outer corners of the eyes are pushed forward a bit too much - I’d give them a yank backwards a bit :)… and perhaps some definition in the cheeks would make him look more like himself - you’ve made him look a bit plump - his cheeks are round but there’s a bit of bone definition on the photos IMO Keep’em updates coming :thumbsup:

There are slight differences, but they seem to be fleshy differences, the kinds of things that don’t really affect the way someone looks, such as gaining or losing weight. IMO this is the best likeness on this challenge. You’ve done a great job of CGfying him.
