HMC #20 - Expressions - Semi-Cartoon Character

#1

Hey,
I’m kinda new into this challenge thing, and i’m no Hardcore modeler!
I’ was doing some researches bout blending displacement maps for facial expressions and developped some interesting techniques. Bumped into that challenge thread while searching how to do stuff and though i might give it a shot!

Character’s base mesh was made like a year ago but had to retopologize it, redo uv’s ect…
Maybe its not elligibe for the challenge but anyways, it motivates me to do it, got nothing better to do for now! Also, its a test to see if the animated Displacement works, so at the end it could help others to make a morph setup to render their animated expressions!

Here’s my progress:

Wow really nice blends. You will not be eligible for voting, but don’t let that stop you. This challenge is a great educational experience. Let me be the first to welcome you aboard.

Hey thanks mate!
But knowing that i ain’t elligible will make me slow down, less motivated now… :frowning:
I understand the concept of starting from nothing but whats the point if its my design and i retopologized/re-UVed it :S
I mean, should i start from a sphere? from a point?? Create my own 3D application from scratch? ect…

I understand its to prevent someone to lets say, download that nice Elvis model on turbosquid but in my case…
Sucks
