HMC#20 -Expressions- Bruce Lee

#1

Hello Everyone,

Bruce Lee is my choice

He should be expressive enough but likeness is a very hard thing to do.
This challenge is tough but fun, i wish the best to everyone taking part!

        Cheers

Talk about massive amounts of character and expressiveness on one face! Great choice, I’ll be following this one closely!

Cheers!

PS: Be sure to check out “The Lost Interview” for some really nice reference.

#5

hi, sorry for the lack of updates, here’s what i did so far

sculpted in Zbrush, eyebrows painted on, need to detail his body and retopo.

#6

sweet!! Im luvin it

#7

Wooo. Nice

#8

Teng Chia, I am a fan of yours, I know you can win… Again!

#9

Wow, sweet work! Totally recognizable!

My only crits would be that the body is too bulky and his face appears a bit too “full”, if you know what I mean. This guy was very light and skinny. He only appeared bulky due to extremely low bodyfat and high muscular definition. I think it might be that the entire mandibula is a tad too wide, not only at the chin. Also the nostrils look a bit flared and the corners of the mouth a little pulled back, as if he’s in very slight, smug smile, which he has on his face in almost every non-movie image you can find. lol
Anyways, these are all minor crits. This is great work!

Cheers!

Ah nice. Looking good so far.

DDS: thank you very much!
Airflow:
Slashmore: haha, thanks so much, its very flattering

TheRazorsEdge: your critique is always very useful, i’ve made some changes, he’s not so smug by default now. i am trying to find a good balance of fats and muscles, he’s like a ecroche sometimes, great subject to study anatomy.

BrettSinclair: thanks for dropping by

here’s tonight’s update:

retopology done so that he can open his eyes and mouth now, they were sealed previously. needs a few more passes of tweaks before he gets his emotional content

#12

I think this is pretty close, I can’t see anything wrong except the neck, but the face is spot on

#13

thanks Fabio

now here’s my progress, at this rate, i 'll have only 1 or 2 expressions by the deadline …

render tests with vray, eyelashes are missing for now

making hair next…

Wow. Top notch work! I watched dragon the bruce lee story a few days ago. Its not bruce, But man he was awesome. Need to watch enter the dragon again.

You have a brillaint likeness already. Would be cool to see the face he pulls when he stands on someones neck and breaks it. Also the expression when his bout to fight and makes that cat sound. Bruce is really inspiring. Keep going!

#18

Top notch work here! The likeness is excellent!

Cheers!

#19

Yes. Please tell how you did the hair. It looks fantastic, along with the rest of your model.
