HMC#20 - Expressions - Bono

This is my first HMC. I am hoping to have enough time to work on this as this is a challenge I’ve wanted to do for some time. I am choosing U2 lead singer, Bono, as my subject since it was his birthday yesterday and because I am a huge U2 fan. I am also quite familiar with his expressions and have tons of reference images. I am hoping this can only help me on this first challenge.

My goals are to increase my speed, create efficient topology, and work on both my scultping and facial rigging skills. I know there is some debate as to whether to model or rig the expressions. I’m choosing to rig since I have never done a facial rig before and I want to make sure that my topology will deform nicely.

Good luck with this, U2 has always been my favorite band, now the real question is… are you going to give him the mullet or the new do…my vote goes for the mullet :smiley:

I thought about that, but then decided I would go with 2009 Bono instead of 1985 Bono. The mullet would be so much fun to do, but I will save that for another challenge. This will give me more sculpting to do.

The challenge is just finding images without his damn glasses! I swear he sleeps in them.

I really wanted to finish this challenge, but I ended up needing to have back surgery rather unexpectedly.

I’ll finish the model and displacement at least and once complete post it in my gallery if anyone is interested in viewing it.
