HMC #19 - Cheetara

#121

nice cheetara’s gotta modern look goin on

#122

I like how in the original it was a 2 tone look. I think using the same color as the pants on the interior shirt might look good. I’d have to see it in action. I would resist the temptation to add too many straps and buckles, she has to be able to move fast and be agile. Are you still planning to put the Thundercats logo on the chest?

#123

Thanks razeverius.

@japetus - That’s the color I was thinking. Don’t want her to go too dark as it’s supposed to be an homage to the original costume. Or I could go all Movie X-Men on her with black leather and straps all over lol. Anyway you can never have too many buckles right. I’m pondering tweaking her into an advanced scout with more weapons mostly. They used her quite a bit in that capacity in the cartoon. She will definately have the logo but I’ve changed where its going a bit. You’ll see.

#124

Your model is improving every time I see it. I love the texture color that you’re choosing so far. Keep an eye on the folds of your model like the under arm area which seems to smooth beyond the bone structure of the joints. Can’t wait to see the face!

#125

Very nice design Wyatt, the details are adding a lot
love the look of the corset and the boots!

#126

Thanks Fictis.

Will do Ryu.

So yesterday night I spent all night painting and sculpting. My first attempt was looking great but it was lost when ZBrush crapped out. (2hrs) My second attempt was pretty bad and was also lost when ZBrush crapped out again. (30min) The third attempt looked great and I saved like a fool the whole time so it was not lost. However once I got it into LW I realized that I was way off on the colors. Disgusted and 3 in the morning so I went to bed. These late nights are catching up with me, I’m starting to halucinate a little.

3rd attempt

So, today I started from scratch on the original exported model. I grabbed the specific colors I wanted and made sure to stick as close as possible to them.

But the forth castle stayed up and that’s what your going to get lad… oh wait, Holy Grail flash back.

4th time was the charm. Body is poking through in a few spots, ignore that. Belts need to be exported at a higher rez.

Full body render to compare. I am quite pleased with these colors. It’s starting to look like a uniform now.

Remaining items:
Sculpt face and body (groan)
Belt (no progress)
Resize bracelet
Sculpt and paint gauntlet
Lace and eyelets on pants
Figure out the hair!!!

6 days, woo wee!

#127

Oh yeah, and rig a skeleton and pose her in the running position. No pressure.

#128

nice now that is really hardcore, 6 days. Go Go Go! lol Can’t wait to see the face:applause:

#129

Nice work on the uniform so far. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that ZB is a bit nicer to you in the coming days and you can make the deadline.

Cheers!

#130

Man this is shaping up great. The clothes is simple but precise, as well as realistic. I Agree with Felix about finishing on time. Best of luck (not that luck has much to do with it :D)

Grr isn’t that just like zbrush! Armor is really looking great now! Really looking fwd to this!

#132

Okay, the make or break moment. I’ve been putting it off long enough, time to work on her face. (sigh) One of the hardest things in my experience is working on a human face. Harder still is working on a woman’s face. Too me keeping it beautiful and realistic is tough. Even harder still is trying to model a woman’s face that is supposed to look like someone. Again to me, when it’s all imagination you can be a bit more free with the shapes but when I’m trying to base it off of a real person I find that very difficult. So yeehaw, I’m trying to do the hardest thing I know of. Up side, I guess, is once this part is done the rest should be cake. I really should stop saying that. It hasn’t gotten easier yet lol. It may not look exactly like Heather Thomas, you’ll have to forgive me that.

Progress so far:
Starting with the original model I removed all of the bits that will not be visible, tweaked the remaining leg polys to fit inside of the pants and repositioned the eyes. So now she fits inside her uniform. I then exported a stripped down model of her clothes that I will use in ZBrush to sculpt the body.

#133

Reference and stuff.

I’m loosely going for her expression in the run pose. Eyes leering to the side as if she is saying, “That’s right, all me baby.”

Body reference

Face reference

#134

Ha! “no honey, this is reference for my PROJECT!!” Now I really can’t wait to see how this turns out!

#135

lol japetus.

And yeah, I want to see this project finished too, God luck WyattHarris

#136

How aptly spoken Senseicapi. Thanks.

It’s funny Japetus but my wife has been giving me pointers on women’s clothing and what would and wouldn’t work. Thankfully she’s been giving me a break for working so late on this every night.

Well I started the day with high hopes. Got everything setup and ready to sculpt when I realized just how bad the old ears looked. I was thinking I could just fix it in ZBrush but why not fix it properly? So I wiped the old ones and made what will pass for the basemesh. Sculpted the hands. The way this is going to work, I used the ZProject brush to match the hand mesh with the wrist. Should be a close enough fit that I can render them as separate objects. Otherwise I’ll just combine them in LW.

Later in the day I found out I had a BarBQ to go to. My brother is shipping out with the National Gaurd so we went to see him off. About 5-6 hours later I got back to work.

Muscled her up pretty good. Used a mask for the straps and the top of the corset to keep the geometry constrained. Also to create the little bulges to show the skin spilling over in spots.

Edit:
Crap, just noticed I forgot the clavicle and collar bones. Tomorrow…

#137

Hey pal

You are doing fine, no need to ask, BBQs and all :D

For the cheetara, I'd suggest you sculpt as smooth as it can be, if there is a muscle you need to show off, try high mode pinch brush with alpha 39 or somethin'. I find it quite useful. And for the porportions maybe try something like this, especially the circled area.

Cheers mate!

Edit: Alpha number

#138

Its coming on. Love the gear, renders got a realist quality to them.
On the body, just like was posted previous. Also make the back of her skill less spherical, and the first thumb joint needs lifting/inflating, get so detailed hand referance.
Looking good.

#139

oh man i suddenly wish i knew zbrush. I’m trying human modeling right now and i really suck at it :D. Anyway nice. hardcore man! 3 more days! it will make it!:bounce:

#140

lol, yea, that typo was really appropriate for the occasion.

The sculpting looks awesome so far, I want to see how you are planning to do the hair.

Damn I need to learn Zbrush better, I never actually put that much effort, but I will try it now that I have more time.
