The WIP’s have been a joy to look at but I’m really glad to start seeing some renders of it. Good to see the back’s filled out, too!
I don’t envy the voting panel; this entry and several others have just come out incredibly.

Hey Trenox do you think you could explain how you got from pic claw_wip01 to pic claw_wip02_wire or point to somewhere else that does id be ever so greatful.
Boone: Jep it’s max all the way
Im really glad you guys like it
edit: fuchiboo: sorry mate didnt see you there. Basically the difference is that I’ve added controledges to the mesh and turbosmooth with two iterations of smooth. Now what’s important here is the controledges (which is the core to good SDS modeling). Im using various techniques to add them where needed to control the smoothing from the turbosmooth. If i didnt add any controledges (or edgeloops) and just applied turbosmooth to pic01 it would look very odd and shapeless. Try and add turbosmooth to a 111 box and add loops of edges on the lowest level and see how the changes affect the smooting (rememeber to enable “show end result”). If this explanation is too basic and you want to know something else just ask
 Wow.
It’s looking so good. You did very well with the details of the back and underbelly.
Trenox you’re my hero for modeling with perfection my favourite mecha.
I bent before your talent and courage to work on such a complex design.
Top grade all the way.
Can you please post some pix of your model with this pose (my favourite)?

My kitbash Cain figure:

PS: don’t forget Cain’s neck is composed of four hydrolic actuators
Geez Phil Tippett and Craig Davies should see this baby.
You star. I got it now i fully understand thanks for explaining i always wondered how how people modeled like that with curvy lines and stuff.
I think the most coolest thing they could do is pit Cain MKII against ED-209. That would be some serious shit indeed.
Probably the entry that deserves the most the “hardcore” appelation of this whole challenge. Great job
Hi guys and thank you all so much. Heres final entry: (update)

Comments:
Cain was a particular difficult model to create since it has so many irregular shapes and lines, and because
I had to rely on several sources of references which came from different models in different poses
(8 models was created for the movie + a full size torso). Also its non-symmetrical and has four arms with almost no identical elements.
However I am relatively happy with the result and the time it took to recreate this fabulous design.
I spend roughly 65-70 hours on this including reasearch.
Special thanks to HenrikBC for support, advice and critique.
Also a special thanks to Insroo for his support and generous supply of reference material.
—end of final entry—
Ive been super busy getting the renders done in time so i didnt have any time to post here, but you can check more stuff in the final entry thread. Ill post more when i get back home!
Insroo: hope this final pose is satisfatory :D
fuchiboo: your welcome man =)
Here is a bonus pic of some closeup details that didnt really fit into the categories of final entry:

Good god, this is definitely going to be one of the toughest voting challenges, IMHO. But Trenox, your entry is definitely among one of the bests! Is this sucker fully rigged? If so, ever thought of doing an animation with it? Man that would be awesome!
