You should learn more here: http://robocoparchive.com/
In the movies section, robocop 2, the monster: Cain.
I will look for more infos about the digital FX they used.
HMC #14 - Robocop 2
About Cain digital face.
This is an extract from an article published in CINEFEX n°45 about Robocop 2 FX.
I think since it is a CG forum, this little trip in the digital FX history might interest some of you.
Itās awesome see how it was more difficult realize VFX in the pastā¦
Thanx for the āvintage tipsā
Bye
That was a good article but I have the feeling I may have read it before. Still the mention of the names deGraf & Wahrman led me to read up on a guy who got his first job on the Blob remake - it was his hand that popped up out of the sink! - and apparently he got the job not because he begged to go in but simply because he trying to sue somebody that was on the vfx department!
But heres a link to the Robocop 2 page on his site. Its got links to other projects like The Abyss, The Guardian, Pet Semetary II and so on. Definitely a good laugh.
Re: Trenox.
Sorry to hijack your WIP!
Hey buddy, I think you forgot to post the link.:hmm:
Iām eagerly waiting to read what you found.
Iāve gotta say, this thread and so many others are giving me a whole new respect for the films that inspired them. Iāve never seen Robocop or Robocop 2, but dangit, once this challenge is over I think Iāll go out and rent them. And Short Circuit.
Youāve done more than capture a likeness of the character here; better than that youāve captured your enthusiasm for it, and thatās truly infectious.
WOW!!
Are you a college boy or some-et.
Your modelleing is sweeee-et.
Realy looking forward to seeing some colour renders.
Dude, you donāt know what youāre missing. Those are classics!
I must say, youāre doing a kick-ass job on RoboCain, Trenox! Letās see the next update! :bounce:
I agree, they are truly classics and the robot designs including Short Circuit still looks incredible even today.
Trenox good job so far! Keep it up!
Re: Insroo.
Sorry about that mate, something went wrongā¦

ā¦and heres a link to the front page of that siteā¦
Time for an update. The first arm is done (although tweaking may occour)

Chrisbeaver: Thats really awesome to hear man. And yes you absolutely must see those two movies. But skip the third one at all cost
Thx a bunch all of you and thx for the stars!
Iāll speak to you later Boone ā¦
superb modelling. Pity (for you at least) that both arms arenāt the same ā¦
Adding more credit and respect to his incredible job.
Donāt forget Cain got 4 different arms. Thatās a real challenge!!!
Trenox, youāve done one hell of a job on this arm.
I canāt wait to see your work on the minigun arm.
I PMed you.
Superb progress! Thatās a mean job you managed to pull on the arm there, so keep up the great work.
Cheers!
PS: Heck yeah! Robocop 1&2 are action-movie milestones! Anybody who hasnt seen them is most assuredly missing out on some great classic 80ās shoot-em-up action blockbusters. Go rent em!
No no Short circuit rocks ! You need to see it, classic 80ās filming at itās best, and to my knowledge very little CG in it, if any ! Radio Controlled wonder number 5
:surprised ā¦:argh: This is hilarious. lol
I thought this movie was dumped into outerspace with other low rate 80ās B-movies a long time ago.
No way could you compare it to the mecha design, highly satyrical story , xtrem action of any robocop movie.
Sorry! My mistake. You can always compare it to robocop 3.
This one sucks a ton.
Chrisbeaver: Avoid R3 like hell, itās not even worth the time you will spend watching it. R1 and R2 are the ones you absolutly need to watch, highly recommanded.
