HMC #14 - Iron Giant

#1

I am doing Iron Giant because it’s one of my favorite movies of all time. I started this model late because of some unavoidable family events. I have other family events coming up so I’m going to get as much done as I can. Not sure I’ll be able to finish this by the deadline, but at least I tried.

In the meantime, here’s my start. I got my references from all over the web including http://www.ultimateirongiant.com/. I will be watching the DVD again for reference as well.

Looking good so far! Can’t wait to see more progress! Good luck with the contest!

Good start, nice choice too ! Hope you can find the time to finish it, good luck

I just watched this movie for the first time. Absolutely awesome! Thanks for starting this entry; I’d been meaning to watch this movie since it came out near 10 years ago, but I just never got around to it… But this planted the idea in my head again, and when I saw it in the DVD-racks at the grocery store I snapped it up. Glad I did

Good luck man; I hope you’ve had time to work on it!

Found some time today to work on this. Thanks to all for your kind and motivational words.

Awesome Man,

I love this movie.
It’ll been interesting to see how you progress.

Looks great so far! It is really starting to look like the real thing. Keep it up!

#8

Hey, looks like a great start! Good luck with this.

#9

Great start; keep it up, man!

(Don’t forget the bump on his head! :stuck_out_tongue: )

#10

Another update, this time I roughed in the legs.

#11

Looking good man! Keep up the great work!

#12

Slowly, but surely.

#13

Coming right along… Keep it up man; not long to go!

Do you have this picture already? Or these two, and this one of his foot? High-res Giant model-sheets; might help you keep proportions & shapes in line if you aren’t already set.

And don’t forget the dent!

#14

Oh man, thanks for his foot. I’ve been racking my brain looking at other reference pictures. I must’ve missed it. I’ve seen that giant size comp image but I wonder why I haven’t been using that. I have the other two. Thanks so much! I hope I can make it in time, but work and family events are slowing me down. But since I’ve started I’ve been having fun with it so if I don’t make it in time it’ll be something I’ll work on on the side.

Thanks a lot for the additional reference pictures!

And I’ll get that dent in once I increase the poly-count on the head!

If you wish, you have 12 hours from the time of this post to finish this…

Good luck -R
