HL2 - Stargate : The Last Stand

Hello everyone at cg talk. I am running a new mod for half-lifie2 ( Source game engine ) based on the stargate movies / series. We are in need of modelers, C++ coders and the whole lot really. I am sorry to say this is a non profit development as it is constrained by laws and rights to the relative companies to Stargate. Hey dude, just a quick note to tell you to check out a thread on the collaborative project page called Looking for Sci-Fi 3d artists by a guy called Zafo. I don’t know the details myself, but came across it this morning and thought of it when I read your post.

Basically it sounds like MGM get a bit serious when people start doing Stargate-related stuff. Again, I don’t know the details but you might want to check out what happened with Zafo before you get too involved with this project.

i was just about to comment along the same lines.

basically, for some reason the mod communities think that because its a mod and not commerical they can take anyones intellectual property and use it for their own benefit. you can’t.

theres even a star trek mod thats site uses the brand logo and graphics (from the next generation era) which is just a cease and desist waiting to happen

new flash: you may not mean any harm, but their lawyers will treat you like any other IP infringer, as they should.

if you think you can make a successful mod then its pointless taking someone elses IP as this accounts for about 5% of it being a decent game…seeing as you have to do the other 95% its silly not the go the whole hog, after all its only a month or 2 of extra work
