I’ve been playing with the 3ds Max plugin for the open source production quality rendering engine ‘appleseed’. Actually, I’ve been doing it for years but the updates in the last year have made things quite interesting. One addition was Volume materials which is great for recreating fog, clouds or other similar effects.
After using it on a logo for fun (and the client actually loving it) I couldn’t help but try it out on something more complex. I’ll post images as I get them finished but for now it’s just all lighting and asset testing. Textures will come after the look is finalized.!
All the foreground objects were made in Silo and the background objects are assets from kits I bought.
