Hi, Im Devin and I have some goals!

#1

Kindof an introduction and a info request.

I used to use Maya a few years ago and used to frequent CG society often. (Illegally owned maya but I grew up) and want to get back into hobbying with 3d again. I have some pet projects for me as a musician that Id like to pass off to my visuals guy (Id have him learn this but he is busy… and I like the hands on approach anyway.)

Any how if anyone can point me in the direction of any Blender beginner tuts that would be great. I was trying to watch the ones off of the blender.org site but they were… well… not useful for me. I kindof need a Maya to Blender guide tbh as I got pretty decent with the software a few back.

Any help is much appreciated.

you can also try youtube and vimeo. they have a plethora of really good tuts. some of those people sometimes spend more time talking about themselves but they put out really good videos. I would also suggest ( if money’s not a huge problem) go to blender’s site and look at some of the vidoes, amazon is great too, or even blendercookie.com or blendernation.com they have great stuff there. well i hope i helped a little. good luck.

This is for Blender 2.5x series, if you don`t know it well it´s a good start.

Also, you could consider Silo for your modeling. (http://www.nevercenter.com/silo/) It’s not free but it is cheap and it’s a very Maya like interface. You could model in that and then render in Blender. Have patience, Blender takes some getting used to but it is worthwhile.
