Here kitty kitty kitty

I began this creature model nearly two years ago as a distraction from another project. I decided to revisit it a couple of weeks ago and try to finish it. Obviously I wasn’t thinking about modeling for decent rigging or posing. I did make some fixes though that helped out in a few places. Taking that into consideration I think the poses turned out acceptable. I will most likely revisit this again and refine it further.

As for the creature, it is obviously very cat like. I wanted it to be somewhat cute, but still have the look that it could rip your face off. Less obvious is that it is actually a reptile. The one creature in the “Sphinx” pose is showing its tongues. I wanted stereo tasting similar to stereo vision and hearing. This also gives the look of a forked tongue, without being a forked tongue. I also want it, like all of my crap, to have a cartoon look so there is little, or no rather, real detail to it.

The rest of the scene is pretty much filler. I did put some effort, though limited, into the setting. But it’s only purpose is to just make the scene less boring than a creature simply standing there.

Like it! A lot!

I suggest that the cat on the left which is facing directly toward the camera probably should turn its head slightly to one side for a better profile. As it is he looks a bit flattened, and more like a chipmunk.

Make another “lion” and name your work “Defenders of the Universe”

Jokes aside it looks nice to me although still WIP

Sorry for the late reply, but I have been entertaining the past two weeks.

A chipmunk you say. I myself thought it looked rather like a chimp or a monkey of some sort when viewed straight on. However I did want to show the creature from varying angles, thus the straight on.

I suppose the wip look of it comes from the before mentioned lack of modeling for rigging. That combined with inadequate rigging both contribute I’m guessing.

 Thank you for the replies.
