Helzer's Sketches

#741

Uhm I searched on the 2D daily mail for this picture but I didn’t find it. Please, next time, write a post with the direct link image-2D gallery, so your fan will easily find it too :stuck_out_tongue:

MM I prefer your coloured pics…you add tons of power to your images with colors

Bravo, are you learning italian?

Ciao

another great pic daniel. very cool mix of technology here, and i really enjoy the brushwork on this picture. fascinating how the shapes you provide work so well to create this machine.

Hey man, just having a yarn to Shawshank about your bad self today. He’s a good friend of mine and a fan of yours. Funny cos I never knew, and I’ve had this thread bookmarked for some time. Amazing stuff man. Respect. Always an inspiration. So keep posting and thanks for sharing

Serena, I found the link

Next time, I will post it directly in my thread  I wish I knew Italian or any other language for that matter, but I’m still having trouble with the one I speak now

jpedro - Thanks  I was trying to do a steampunk image for that other thread.

Cavematty -Thanks too, yeah I chatted a bit with Shawshank about New Zealand, art, etc. A really nice guy. I’m guessing you live in Wellington? Recently I watched this program called “Managing Asia” where the host interviewed the founder of Weta. I can’t remember his name, but his history and the history of the company was fascinating. Anyhow, thanks again for the good word

Another Steampunk, an hour.

Hey Daniel,

You’ve added some amazing stuff to your thread since i last checked in! Your steampunk stuff is fantastic, but i must say one of your best for my mind is that bridge piece you did. That is an amazing piece and to churn that out in around 40 minutes is phenomenal.
You have a very distinct style and i look forward to being around to check what sketch1000 looks like!

Hey thanks a bunch, Redfrog  My speed really slows down after 60 mins or so. I think a different thought process takes place. That three-eyed creature in the subways literally took me all day and when I go back and look through the progressions from hour to hour, the progress just get slower and slower. I’m guessing most artist’s have the same experience. In any case, thanks again for dropping by

By the way, I dig your Cerano piece…quirky little fellow

A couple of hours

WOW, recently you seem to be able to combine the freshness of your speedy sketches with the results of laborious rendering of longer pieces.

And in that last one it looks like you could do the same thing vice versa, i.e. introduce rendered detail into the speed sketches.

Amazing.
I also like how these last studies have a very detailed texture in places which gives them a nice DOF and makes 'em look a bit like a 3D image rendered to a natural media painting render pass (for which many 3D modellers would give their right hand, I guess, so you’re kind of lucky…:scream: ).

#760

Thanks Mu for the kind words. I haven’t done much 3D, except for a few uncompleted tutorials. In any case, I’m glad the DOF succeeds on some level  Thanks again!
