Nice brushes Dan…its getting more and more refined…especially the last one…wonder what those 3 guys doing?

#502

I LOVE the last one. It’s incredible the way you painted trees in the right area.

See you soon,
Serena.

Nazirull - Yeah, I have no idea what they are doing. I thought about adding a horse and a cart to give it a little more back story. Perhaps, later. Thanks

Serena - Thanks as always

Wow this is BEAUTIFUL I love the story going on here, wonderful atmosphere!!

#505

The last one is brilliant! Lovely mood, yummy colours

UUuuhh ! Double focus ! I really love this composition!
I’ve only 1 comments on this image : you have painted the fire’s light all around the ground but you have not diffused its color in the air right over the fire.

I’ve found this reference for you cause I’m a dummy with english and images work better

See you soon,
Serena.

Hey Daniel,
I realy like your sketches. Also followed them in the DSF. Nice work so far and keep it up.

#508

Solid works; I’m particularly impressed with your use of colors.

Runecaster - Thanks for the great comment. I want to continuely improve on the narrative aspect of my work, so it’s good to hear that!

Iridyse - Thanks. I tried sticking to a complimentary color scheme. By the way, my crystal ball predicts you will be the next SOTW.

CyborgJA - Good point. I’ve actually updated the image above to illustrate your comment. I think it looks better. I should have left the old for comparison, though.

For artistic reasons, though, I didn’t add too much because I don’t want an equal balance of warms and cools. I want the cools to dominate the real estate of the composition but I want the warms to be the focal point in terms of intensity. Nonetheless, your insight really improved it. Thanks, Serena

zng-Y - Thanks for the kind words…seeya’ at the DSF

slickgreekgeo - Much appreciation about the color remark. Thanks

Generally when I respond, I like to post a new sketch. Since I don’t have anything this morning, I will post an update to the Sea Monkey piece I did a few pages back. Last weekend, I took the sketch and reverted it to greyscale so I could do a detailed value painting. Once I’m satisfied with this, I will add color. So hopefully this value study will suffice. By the way, the work is influenced from the graveyard scene in Hamlet.

Cheers,
Brooke.

Thanks, Kelandra

Someone notified me about a tutorial I did ages ago. Anyhow, the images were missing because I had switched servers and they got lost somewhere in the process. Long-story-short, I recreated the artwork needed for the steps and just posted it back in the tutorials forum. If anyone is interested, here’s a link
