Thats what im talking about baby! Darknessssss…muahahahahaha!!
errr…sorry…

Loving it!:scream:

In the early years of my self taught thing, ppl told me try not to use black or white in painting…instead use very dark colors or very bright yellow to show depth.
I dunno but your painting seems to use lotsa too black colors…well it gives it that very dark mood obviously but…what do u think? :deal:

Gord-MacDonald - many thanks!

Nazirull - LOL, thanks  I did the last three at work during lunch breaks and downtime. All of our monitors at work are calibrated for gaming screens (video slot machines). The brightness is set higher than the typical monitor. So the blacks are not pure blacks, but when I get home (like I did tonight), and view the image from my monitor, everything is very black and a tad more saturated.

As far as using black in a palette, most will argue against the use of black. However, there are plenty of famous artist’s that haved used it, such as Frans Hals, David Leffel and Frazetta. So, to each his own

Self portrait as a vampire

Ya know…I was showing a friend progress shots of one of my paintings one evening and he said, “damn, you’re fast”…I laughed and said, “I am like a three-toed sloth langoriously climbing a tree if you compare me to some of the whiz-kids at CGS”.

Case in point. *points to this thread and Samson’s"

Great work, says the slow-w-w-w sloth.

Nice I love your stuff, great painterly feel to it. It’s great that you enjoy drawing this stuff and that you have the time to do it, even though as you have said you don’t have much time.

#490

SuperMuscle - I guess if you enjoy something, you always find time to do it. Thanks, bro. And, by the way, keep sketching and learning. I just realized you are only in highschool. You have amazing potential

Nazirull - You got your wish (below is a gif animation) Thanks as always

Cris-Palomino - Thanks for the compliment. I really like your thread on the Golden Age of Illustration. I have a few books on Howard Pale and NC Wyeth. They are amazing artists and story-tellers. It’s fascinating to see other artist’s of that period with equally amazing work. Thanks again

#494

lost track.

#495

Thanks for granting me my wish!

Ahaaa!! u do values study first too! I used to think that u work straight to color.
Your last two sketches…warming up for EON i see?

#496

Nazirull - For the most part, I do start out with a value sketch. In terms of speed, it’s really efficient for me. Although, I do some sketches purely with color first…like this one.

Concerning EON, those last two sketches are unrelated. I don’t think I will enter into the challenge this time.

Thanks, Nazirull.
