help with walk cycle

#1

hello, im having difficulties getting my walk cycles smooth in motionbuilder. i can’t seem to get the end frame and start frame exactly the same, ive tried copy and pasting keyframes, using poses, making all the frames allign in fcurve graphs…everything. tried merging all the layers to make sure frames aren’t conflicting. anyone got any ideas? its making my cycles pop just enough for me not to get away with it.

thanks

Hello,
When you paste a pose to the Character and then set key, does the pose change slightly?
I had this problem a couple of times.

yeah it does, i ended up just exporting it to maya and doing it in there (as it needed to go back into maya anyway)

there must be a simple answer surely…

The only answer that helped me was - not to have any keys on the bones. With clear bones poses worked. So I ploted always to control rig and plotted to bones only when everything was ready.

The way i do it is i make the start pose first. Then i go to the end and key the same pose. Then animate inbetween.

It could also be an fcurves issue. Motionbuilder will try to extrapolate the new XYZ to match existing keyframes. Make sure the entry ancle of the curve (at least XYX) matches the exit. I just zeroed it on my looping animations =).

Try pasting your poses without x translation and any rotation. this will paste the pose disregarding where the hips are or facing apart from z and y which you need.

As above, check your f-curves extrapolation as well, if you right click in the f-curves window and select extrapolation you can see clearly what is happening in the looping. Check especially the hips and spine bones as these are the ones which will give your anim a bad loop if they dont extrapolate smoothely.

as above, uncheck match T and R

thanks all, though Animatbull, that seems to have done the trick
