Help with Layers and Infinity Curves in Maya Animation??

#1

I’m working on the following shot

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNpJkf94DY0

After about 4 seconds, the character notices that he’s being watched, jumps in shock, waves with a silly expression on face, and exits the screen in a cartoony motion.

I got the first sneaky walk part right, as you can see. I animated the sneaky walk, and translated it forward. But now I’ve no clue as to how I make the character stop and make the jump. :banghead:

I tried layers and working with the infinity curve of the original animation layer. When I work with layers, I can’t get the character to stop in one place, there is at least slight movement (obvious to viewer ). Can someone please give me a head start on how I can go about this before I go nuts :argh: .
