I have a Character, that I am using the DAZ rig, I am using C4d for setting weights on joints, So far no problem, but the rig has possibilities to weigh the face, there joints for tongue, lower jaw ,etc., How do you add weights to this area? Any help would be appreciated! For now I have an Iteration where I deleted those Bones, and works fine. But would like to make my Characters Talk. Thanks Dale
Help Weighting Head on DAZ rig Please.
Howdy,
Normally, I use morphs for facial rigging, but you can use joints just as easily. If you hide the polygons of the outside of the head, you can then easily paint weights on the inner parts of the mouth. With my CD Character plugins for Cinema 4D, I can actually zoom inside the mesh and paint from the inside out. I’m not sure how the native weight painting tool handles that, though, as I’ve never used the native rigging tools.

I bought your toolset years ago R11, Learned how to build from scratch. But that don’t cut it any more!
I brought in a G6 rig out of I clone today and going ok so far, not going too crazy with it till I take it back into Iclone and see haw it translates, Kind of backwords enginerring, Pain ,but once I get it,yee ha! Looks like blender has some good tools, may go there, while I am waiting for R20 to come out,Ha Ha!
Thanks.
Howdy,
Well, if you haven’t used CD Character plugins since R11, you may not be aware of all the additional features that have been added since then. For example any rig you create with the plugins is completely adjustable to fit other meshes, so you can build one rig and reuse it many times. I’ve been reusing the same standard biped rig I created a few years back for all biped characters I’ve rigged since then.
Here is a youtube video demonstrating the adjustability:
