Help - Prismatic Glitter Shader

#1

Hello All,

I’m trying to create a glitter shader that based on what angle you view it from will show you a different colors. In the past I have created prismatic foil shaders by creating a ramp texture with sampler info facing ratio connected to it and then plugged into the specular channel of the shader. I am now struggling to create a similar effect but connecting it to a glitter effect. When viewed in a neutral environment, the foil is gold, but if bent or viewed from a different angle, each flake reflects a different color. I’m attaching an photograph of the actual material I am trying to create.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I am still attempting to create this material in Mental Ray for Maya. The closest I have come is using a small cell leather material and having a ramp shader with a sampler info node connected to the cell color. The effect is a bit too uniform and not as random as the actual material.

Again, any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you.
