Help! Pole vector moves my joints!

#1

I don’t know what is going on, but when I attach a pole vector constraint to a knee, the hip-ankle chain slightly rotates. Now, I’m certain I’ve set up the position of my knee vector correctly, using the following method:

[ul]
[li]select hip, knee, ankle and point constraint control offset group to it,[/li][li]aim constraint the control offset group to knee joint (I use Aim vector=X, Up vector Y and Scene Up),[/li][li]delete constraints,[/li][li]move the group along the X axis in front of the knee,[/li][li]pole constraint the control from the group to IK handle.[/li][/ul]I used this method with three other limbs of my character and it worked great. It’s just this bloody single leg (made from mirrored joints) that won’t comply. The other leg works perfectly fine! Also, I don’t think the problem lies in mirrored joints, as rigging of the mirrored arm joint chain proceeded very smoothly. What may be the source of the problem?

Ah, sorry. I think I posted prematurely. I managed to fix this using ik2Bsolver instead of using ik2RP.

I am happy that 2 bone solver worked for you, but it may not bless you always as it did this time, as i think. Try the concepts of RP solver and aim constraints may be useful to fix this kind of problems.
