Help me make a choice

I have to decide which desktop to get of the 3. Be in mind I am a medium proficiency animator. Which would be the best for both Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender and Zbrush?

  1. The: Refurbished Dell XPS 8500 Desktop, Intel® Core™ i7-3770 3.4GHz
    (downside: 1 GB Gt620 graphics but it’s PCIe x16 so it’s replaceable)

  2. Alienware X51 Core i5 3330P (3.0Ghz) 8GB RAM, Gtx 645 (looks like it’s PCIe x16)
    (downside: don’t even know if it’s going to work when I get it)

  3. Asus Black Desktop: Intel Core i5-3350P Processor 3.1 GHz ( cache)16GB DDR3 RAM 1 TB 7200 rpm Hard DriveWindows 8
    (downside: GT640 but with 3GB, not sure if it’s PCIe x16

All are around the same price
I need your professional wisdom

between those 3 and not knowing anything else, I’d probably pick the asus

#1 has 8GB expandable to 16

Hi,

i would take the #1, because i7 has HT and you can use this with 32 GB Ram ( 4x8GB). Graphic card i would take the geforce 620 at the moment. Later ,if you want to use vray or vray rt, look for open gl 4.3 compatibility. ATI supports opengl too, but not all funktions for vray rt works.

the Quadro k600 needs 10min per run costs around 130-140€
the quadro 4000 needs 8 min per run and costs 600 -650 €

first thing is to upgrade the hdd to a ssd, i prefer samsung pro series.

Hi. Yes, I picked the i7 several weeks ago. Best decision I made so far. This comp is a beast! :slight_smile:
