help: how to make a feather to bird in right way

I’m working on a new model of a bird these days and I am having a problem in the bird feathers … I do not know the best way to make the feathers of the entire body (chest, face, back, legs , wings and tail ) to make a satisfactory outcome and nice look … so any one know the way, or explain how it works or hase a Link to help me that will be great …
I wish you could help me …

to make my idea clear i watch a showreel video to a particular way to make a nice look feather on bird if any one can help in this way he will solve my problem …

There’s some info on how to do this in Blender, but I’m sure if you look at it - you can figure out the equivalent methods for doing the same in other programs. Downy feathers are mostly applied via hair particles using a referenced mesh, and wing and tail feathers are duplicated instances placed onto the model.

thanx Paul your help was useful … and i start now some test for chest feather … but the problem is i want to make the feather randomly not same direction … and by the way i use for create the feathers maya and cinema4d :rolleyes:
