help hard surfacing tutorial problem stencil

Hi

I’m doing the hard surfacing tut with the tank…i’m at the backplate for the barrels…when i use the stencil tool it causes a break in the circular polygon…on the vid it does not do this. The line appears when he merges…it appears on me when i use the stencil…please help im ready to scream i’ve done it so many times…
