HELP a noob, would ya!?

#1

I have a tree. a 2mil-poly tree with no subdivision levels (dynameshed). I wanna low-res the hell out of it, make UVs and make a normal map out of the high res to be applied to the low…

how?

I know how to unwrap in zbrush and thats about it. I have tried youtubing and even subscribed to digital tutors but to a noob, the gajillion tutorials for the bazillion different ways to do something… its all too overwhelming.

Please help?

Thanks

Have you look at the Zremesher option under Geometry?

Thanks but I finally figured it out. I found that the best way was to create a base mesh, unwrap it, then step the subdivisionsto match or exceed the polycount to that of the high res mesh then Project the geometry (A bit like ‘transfer attributes’ in Maya with only ‘vertex position’ checked) then bake it. Then I have all the detail and the subdivisions for mapping etc. May make a tutorial for this - there’s nothing out there for this method I don’t think but it really works well! :buttrock:
