Hey I’m pretty new to 3DS Max 8, I can make shapes, lines, and put textures on things. I’m also decent at lighting. I learned most of them from messing about.
But anyway, I want to be able to make human-shapes and stuff, and I have decent knowledge of anatomy since I used to draw manga (I’m not so good at anatomy though, just a bit of experience).
I’m also not planning on doing this as a profession, only as a passtime and maybe I’ll be able to use it in music videos for my band, so don’t send me on a big long journey or anything.
I just need something to start me off, point me to a few tutorials for what I need and go over the basics again a little bit.
Thanks for any help ^.^

Yipes – modeling humanoids is about a tough a task as anything can be. Even just making a halfway decent head can require more skills than most people have.
Since you’re a musician perhaps you’ll appreciate this analogy – suppose I said I know a little about keyboards (I do) and how to read music (ditto) and so I thought maybe I’d like to compose a symphony for a concert. Now, don’t send me off on a long journey, because I’m just doing this for fun, just point me to a few tutorials to tell me how to write this concert.
Organic modeling is tough and there are many different paths to take you there. But I’ve been using Max for over a decade (and consider myself a fairly good modeler) and without using MetaReyes I can’t make a human to save my life. Yet there are other folks who use box modeling and can create something in a few hours.
I’m afraid you will either need to commit to a lot of time to learn the tools well or have to give up your idea of modeling humans.
