Hi folks,
I am trying to render out an image(panorama spherical map). I know how to do this of course, but I need to know if this is possible in HDRI format.
Thank you.

Hi
This may help…or not.
when you render an image…click the disk icon (top right corner) and in the “save as type” dropdown choose .hdr
I dont think is a true hdr…maybe it is.
I tried it, and the hdr image was associated in Photoshop…When opening it in PS there is a slider at the bottom of the image, which allows you to increase or decrease the luminance.
Give it a crack.
Ivan technics do work fine but don’t expect a real HDRI. I checked and all values are within the 0 to 1 range, apparently, as of now, Vue sky isn’t HDR. Let’s hope we will get that in Vue 7, it would really be nice, especially for xStream, MR loves HDR

Hi there!y
Actually, there is a way of getting a real HDR file… i’ve been doing it for a time for using them in another software packages…
The first thing you have to do is write it directly to disk from the render options. The other important thing to do, is disable de “exposure” setting in the post process window.
I’m not using my machine so i can get you some screens, but its not difficult to do it so…

Thanks alot, I’m doing it right now. I have the hdri viewer, so I will look at it as soon as the render is done.
Thank you Alejrandro
I unchecked “exposure” and “natural film response” and it helped a bit, now reaching 30:1 contrast, still very far from mental ray physical sky 1,570:1 for a 7am sky, but an improvment to the 3:1 I used to get

Agreed…
Thought you can technically save as a Radiance image, it is not a true HDR Image unfortunately, the luminace is a bit of a cheat.
One thing you can do is render the image using different exposures and lighting from within view… then use the HDR merge tool in Photoshop, works pretty well if you realy need to make one.
Thank you BoBoZoBo, you confirm what I feared
Let’s hope we get in a future version a “physically accurate sky” (à la mental ray) It would be especially usful for reflections
