HCR MINI-Challenge #42:Goodbye Ghibli - Spirited Away's Chihiro

#1

Spirited Away was the first Ghibli movie I watched. I have a print from the movie hanging about my desk and I’ve been wanting to recreate it in 3D for a while now. This will be a good excuse for me to finally get it done

I found some really good reference for her too:

Here’s my progress so far:

#3

Her face is looking very alien-like at the moment. Trying to figure out how to fix that

#4

More reference:

#5

Think I fixed her 3/4 view, it was just a lack of volume in her cheeks.

#6

Looking pretty good :keenly: , Could you post some wires for your mesh?

#7

Looking good.

#8

Thanks guys! Added detail to the nose, mouth, ears and changed the general shape a bit more

#9

Another update. I’ve been avoiding the hair as I’m not really sure how to approach it. I guess I have to figure it out now

#10

Another update:

#11

Big changes to the eyes and area around them among other things

#12

This looks great, although I think that the mouth is strange when is viewed from the front, his shoes are a little thin when seen from the front and his legs too. I dont know if it is on purpose, maybe you want that style.

Thanks setocg! You’re right about the mouth, I went back to that and think I fixed it.
Added some hair to her

#15

All UV’d. Did a quick texture pass, still some work to do

This is as far as I got in the time we had. I want to rig her properly so I can animate a shot and ran out of time to do it as well as I wanted. Still planning on animating a short shot with her after the holidays. Model is done though and I’m pretty happy with it
