HARDCORE MODELING!: QOTRM: <<FLYING EGYPTIAN PIRATE SHIP>>

#1

Hello all! This is my first time entering one of these challenges so I am super excited for it. For this challenge I decided to model an air ship. While looking at reference I was inspired by the Egyptian symbol the eye of Ra and decided to use that as my underlying theme. It is a giant Egyptian pirate ship. The ship is on a large scale with a small city that lives on the top deck that burns a “super” material in its middle chamber to make fast getaways with its giant engines on the back. The design is a little wacky but I think it will be a fun project and I am looking forward to the next couple weeks. Below I posted some of the reference material and the orthographic’s I drew up for it.

Nice concept work, It would be nice to see the ship a bit closer to see the details of it. Is it going to be decorated with Egyption motifs and busts? Cant wait to see it

#3

yeah buddy!

I really like the concept, it has great potential. I like the stylistic approach, kind of cartoony feel…are you going to try and stay true to that while modeling, or is that just the way you drew it?
Cant wait for more posts!

jaceofspades- thx for the feedback and ya im not that good at concept work and it took me awhile to draw that up so i didnt really do any close ups because i figured i would just kinda make it up as i go, but yes im going to try and use different egytion motifs and things, i still need to research a little more so if anyone knows of any cool ones it would be cool to post them.

sullendawn- thx im glad u liked it and ya i do kind of cartoony but i think im gona try and stay with that feel as i model as well

I am already a little behind and getting nervous lol…all i have so far is just the simple blocking out of the shapes but i am goning to start getting on it and have some better stuff to post in a few days!!

so i havent posted anything in awhile but its almost deadline time so i have been working alot on this so here is some of what i have…i should have some more up in a day or two

this is the airplane propeller for the smaller engines

these are going to be the guns that come out the side of the pirate ship, i havent put a back on them yet because im not sure how much you will be able to see once i get them inside

this is the scarab that im going to attach on the back of the ship

this is my progress on the ship when i was making it i could not decide what style i liked more for the paneling that protrudes out the side. i think #1 is more realistic and that is what i am leaning towards but i kind of like how #2 looks from a distance. i have a feeling #1 will be what im looking for and look alot better once i get some lights in there but i thought i would just post it and see if anyone has any other opinions, below is kind of what i am going for when i say wood paneling

just thought i would show one more thing befor i call it a day so here is the windows, i added the screws on the inside circle and forgot to re-render it but hopfully i will have a close up of them on the ship pretty soon
