HARDCORE MODELING!: 80's Cartoon:Voltron

#21

Agreed. No crits from me as of yet.

#22

luks like a gud n clean start … mesh flow is luking gud … this guy will be a must watch…
all the best …

#23

Thanks for the comments guys

I worked on the black lion’s head… without orthos this is definitely taking a long time.

Let’s see how the arms turn out, the leg lions are indeed larger than the arm lions and keeping everything proportional is an issue.

#24

Yeah yeah, that is looking sweet! Man, I forgot how much I loved this cartoon as a kid.

#25

Your voltron makes me want to call up my folks and get them to rummage through my old boxes of toys and send 'em to me!

He still looks feminine, though. Perhaps bring the cheek bones out a little. It might not match your reference, but if it gives you the look you want then that’s the important part.

#26

aw man lion helmet is sweet! Lookin’ great! I like the head a lot more too.

#27

@ Wyatt, thx! I put this show in my Netflix cue, my son is gonna love it!
@ japetus thx buddy!
@ Rage I know what you mean… better get in touch with your folks before they give it all away… mine did, original star wars toys, transformers, oh boy I think I’m gonna pass out again… anyway, if I have time I’ll revisit the face and tweak it more, there are still 4 lions and a sword to make

I wasn’t able to do much tonight, made the neck and fitted the head to the torso to see how it was jiving.

#28

Wow, that looks slick! Very clean. I can’t see anything to criticize at this point, so good job mate!

#29

thx Michael!

after a couple of days I finally was able to get a couple of hrs to work on this guy. Here is the body of the Yellow Lion. next the head. I think I’ll be able to pose the legs and arms lions separately, the black lion will not work due to the wacky proportions in robot mode…

#30

Looks great with the head attached, snows. And from this angle it doesn’t look feminine at all, IMO. What are you using as a modeling app, if I may ask?

-Rage

#31

Why the application that had subdivision surfaces and its workflow since 1995:

LIGHTWAVE

When all other apps thought that splines was the future.

#32

HA! I’m indeed modeling in Lightwave, but I’m also using Maya, I will UV unwrap, texture, light and render in Maya although rendering in LW is not out of the question.

Each one has its pro’s and con’s. I’m just a faster modeler in LW

#33

Yellow’s front legs

#34

Very nice sir, you are doing an excellent job! this should be pretty spectacular when it is done.

#35

Thanx Geta-Ve!

Here is Yellow, no tail… might make one if I end up making an image of the Lions.
bellow is in Leg form.

#36

awesome!!! keep it up!!

#37

Nice Voltron man!

It´s really cool that you´ve done the lions in animal pose before attaching them to voltron!
Would be awesome to see an animation of the transformation :stuck_out_tongue:

ooo by the way! You would be my hero if you told me how you made your signature at the bottom of your posts! =D
As you can see I can only get the entire linktext to show. I want my own text to show instead of the link… =(

Keep up the nice work!

#38

thanks man, really appreciate the feedback.

for the link… in your user profile go to signature then type whatever you want the link to be, select it and then click on insert link button, paste the url that’s it

#39

man that’s really starting to take shape can’t wait to see the whole thing. If you finish early are we going to see a robeast?

#40

Dude! Sweet update
