HARDCORE MODELING!: 80's cartoon: Skeletor & co

#1

Hey everyone -

so this is the first contest I am entering here - very excited for this one and had to enter!

I see that there are quite a few already attempting him, but I can not pass up the chance to try and do an awesome model of Skeletor.

Always been one of my all-time favorite villains, especially in the 2002 re-launch of the brand, which is the version I am going to heavily base my work off of.

Here are a few of the Skeletor reference images Iliked and put together: all credit to the Four Horsemen and the other artists used here - there is one drawing I found in there thatthe website is listed on.

The turnaround/sketch here is my own study used for modeling that I drew by studying the figure put out by the four horsemen.

finally I have attached the first base mesh I was working on - Expect it to be heavily revised/replaced soon.

In addition, and to give you a little bit more of a real idea of what I’m going for in the final product, this is the skull I worked up for him in 3DS Max and Zbrush a little while ago.

hey all,

this is just an update before the final deadline - I forgot to get up what I had updated last week so here it is:

I’ve worked here quite a bit with the body mesh and it’s getting closer to where it needs to be - I have some more work done on it and accessories done but I’ll post all my final stuff tonight.

What do you guys think? Is the color ok? Things I know are that the muscles need a lot more defining from the image you see here (have already done most of this in render to come)

the hands and feet have also been improved - I’ll be updating again soon.

Hey man, looks really good so far. The polypaint, and alphas really work well on the skull. The shoulders may be a little wid right now, but I’m sure you already fixed it up a bit.
Good luck on getting it all done.
