HARDCORE MODELING!: 80's Cartoon: She-Ra

#21

Looks good. Nice shaders for your test renders. I’m not crazy about the bottom of her skirt, though, the way it wraps around her thighs doesn’t look quite right. Also, her neck is quite long, almost as long as her head. While this seems to be the accepted norm on magazine covers, It’s completely unnatural. Last thing I notice is that the rib cage is too wide (I think) It’s hard to pinpoint what is wrong with it, exactly, but the whole area where the armor wraps around to the back doesn’t seem right. Armor is gorgeous. Design flaws like Felix mentioned, but still beautiful.

Cheers and keep the updates coming.

Thanks for the input guys!

LMG: The skirt is going to be a kind of methril type shiny cloth. I know, it looks like metal right now. The sculpting still needs work.

TheRazorsEdge: Thanks Edge! The Upper body armor is going to be similar to the skirt. A kind of shiny methril armor. I know what you mean, The armor design phase is taking alot of time to resolve. You gotta make em look hot as well as carry some level of rationalism.

RageOfAges: I was looking at Theron’s proportions for She ra and her neck is also quiet long when compared to other females. Mine might still be a little longer  . I am going to shorten it a bit. I’ll give her cage another pass. I do have a nasty habit of inflating the chest area a bit :D.

Thanks for the input fellows!
Here’s a speed sculpt of the sword!

I’m still going…
This is the building for the background.
I’m afraid my thread is now just about sculpting and designing. Have’nt been able to focus on the hardcore modeling which this contest was all about.

More updates in a few minutes!

She looks incredible Leviathon. I particularly like the noble bearing she has.

It looks great. I love the overall pose and the subtle realistic middle age style you put on her. I would just like to ask if you have seen the interpenetration on the back where the cape pass throww the skirt. Can you correct it for Friday?

Sincerelly, great progress.

#29

Great job Leviathon, her pose is very regal. I like some of the angular features you’ve given her. The details on her armor are very clean, not always easy to do.

#30

RAGE, LMG, Wyatt… Thank you!
I hope I make the comp in time.

Anyone know how many hours are left???

#31

Looks great!

Please do fix the interpenetration, as LMG has already mentioned. It’s very distracting from that angle.

As far as how many hours, I cant tell you either. Not sure what time zone Roberto is on and what he considers “morning”.

Keep going, I’m hoping to see this in the voting thread tomorrow.

Cheers!

Thanks Razor! Man I wish I could have been as critical as you were with your topologies!
Great stuff!
Have fixed the cape and cleaned up all the armor parts.
Let me know what you guys think!

Here are the passes for my final Comp;

#33

Here’s my final composite people.
Hopefully I’ve made it just in time.

It was fun! This challenege has been by far the most appealing and thnk you for making all of us relive those golden years of fantasy and entertainment :D.

Good luck to everyone!

Sweet work here! He really like your overall color-composition. Gives the whole thing a very appropriate somewhat otherworldly feeling.

Cheers!

PS: Going this far in texturing, you did miss the eyes however, which are so incredibly important for any character. Before you shelve this for good, you might want to correct that little omittance for completeness’ sake. Just my 2 cents.

#35

I really like the gold version best, pose is great, and makes her feel almost like a valkyrie from norse myth.
Great work.

#36

Thanks for the heads up on the eyes Razor! I had put in subtle yellow pupils and have now enhanced them.

Airflow:
Thanks! Yes come to think of it she does seem to have Norse influence because of the bronze intricate details.
