HARDCORE MODELING!: 80's Cartoon: She-Ra

#161

Really nice work and well done on finishing. The end result looks great

Would be nice to see it fully textured if you find the time for it. There were some interesting tips in your WIPs too

Nice model… but rather dissapointed with final render… any chance to redo the render to get better image?

#163

DaFrog, this challenge has absolutely nothing to do with rendering.

I know… but the model is so good that its a waste with no good render

shin4: Many thanks for the compliment. I was working on some Shave hair, but the results where rather crappy in the small amount of time I had left. Long hair is quite the effort with Shave. Hence I stuck with the poly-plane hair, which is also much faster to render once textured .

RageOfAges: Sorry for the late response and many thanks for the suggestion. I actually do have some very slight translucency on that Blinn. If I remember correctly, PRman for Maya actually allows a user to add SSS-attributes to any material, which would generally be a nice option to have in MR on a Blinn instead of using a dedicated shader, which requires textures to get really nice results with. And I just had that Blinn handy from a cartoon-style project.
PS: Thanks for your support in the render-matter.

T0BER: Muchas Gracias, senor! I’m planning to finish it with nice textures and render, but with other projects waiting to be finished, I dont know yet when I’ll have the time to. This will have to wait a little while. Until then I’ll just throw together a quick ZB clay render for my portfolio.

DaFrog: This “final render” was thrown togther rather hastily in order to meet the deadline here. Also, I am anything but a render-magician, who can whip up a sweet render in no time, hence the somewhat flat-poser-look etc partially due to the complete lack of textures. That’s why I referred to a statue on the spoof-cover. As mentioned before, I am also planning to overhaul the whole thing to remove some rather obvious flaws in the body sculpting and rigging/skinning/posing besides adding textures etc. Many thanks for the compliments though.

Salute!

This just blew me away for a while. You have so much talent! It turned out beautiful! I’m very new to 3d ( Just started learning Max 09 2 months back) but I now feel like I should throw my current work in a dark room & lock it up for all eternity LOL. Beautiful Beautiful stuff!
