So, I decided that I wanted to do my own cartoony styled version of the ninja turtles. After I had gathered some reference and done a very rough concept, a friend of mine pointed out that the new hardcore modeling challenge was centered around 80's cartoons, so I figured I might as well enter.

Anyway, here's a collage of most of my referance images.

My plan is to do a style of cute turtles, similar to the top images. The difference is that I plan on going into a lot more detail like muscles and whatnot as seen in the lower images.

           Stay tuned...

I don’t get what you are going to model. :frowning:

#3

Hopefully this helps you know what I’m working towards a little better.
Some basic concepts

#4

haha, good idea. Stubby turtles lol. Good luck =]

My friends that I asked for quick critiques on my concepts kept wanting changes on the head in one shape or another. Here’s a really quick head change, i just squatted down the top of the cranium so the it didn’t look so alien like. Also, it works with TMNT heads more now anyway just because their heads are more of oval shapes anyway. Let me know what changes you guys might like to see.

very cool idea. i too will be doing a ninja turtle, but in a totally opposite direction. i should have concept work posted this evening.

good luck, have fun and show us some edge loops! :o)

I love me some TMNT, I was going to do them myself as well, but decided on Usagi instead.

Also, re your newest concept, I kind of liked the big forehead version more. Also remember to make sure you add the big cheeks.

Thanks for the comments guys.

@ adamavenali- I’m looking forward to seeing your hardcore ninja turtles because there are far less TMNT concepts then I thought there were going to be in this challenge, but you’re late on posting the concept pictures

I still don’t get it.

#12

I didn’t get quite as much done today as I was really wanting but its getting super late, so here’s what I have done so far.

Next update: tomorrow night

Looks like a great start

Those figures at the top are based on Munny by Kid Robot :-

Look forward to seeing this progress…

Hey, nice start  Looking forward to seeing these little dudes with rippling muscles

@ samarton- Ya, the image I found had a link to the toys he used to make them. After that, it looks like he got inventive with some markers and silly putty for the headbands

#16

I am really liking the concept images and overall style. I’m excited to see how it turns out.

#17

Time for another update. Still working on the modeling

#18

Nice Mark, looking forward to the finished product.
