HARDCORE MODELING!: 80's Cartoon: Mumm-Ra on steroids

#81

Love how the porcelain render brings out the details such as the veins, you have been pumping the detail in!

Can’t wait to see the final beauty render, not long to go now!!

PS. It might be worth you starting a thread in the general discussions about a London meet, be good to get a range of skills to talk about anything and everything. From my perspective, I might be taking a contract over in Bristol and obviously I would have to move, so May might not be a good time, I’m still awaiting confirmation!!! Would be great to meet up again as it’s been a long long time! I’ll keep you posted…

#82

Its getting there, but I suggest adding some upper fangs - which can suggest either a snake or a cat…

#83

So the final is rendering, should be done by the time I finish this post.
Heres a small version as I have to do post process.

#84

Final Hero image. Just the turnarounds and wireframes to go now.

#85

nice, good luck :wavey:

#86

Very cool idea and final result. Good job man!

#87

Very sweet!

Personally, I feel the yellow of the glow is dominating too much of the overall color comp and some more contrast might make the whole thing more dynamic and visually appealing.

Cheers and congrats for finishing!

#88

awesome, but wait. He’s not blue anymore:shrug:

#89

Thanks goes out to everybody who posted in here, its appreciated.

Lol, well technically he was kinda an mix of yellow, blue and purple, like a bruise, gave him that undead look.
I think Ill re-render the final in a better angle and knock back the flames to balance it abit more. I just wanted to get my stand in renders done now, as I remeber the last minute problems I had on the Starwars Tribute, (Submitted with seconds to go).
So here are the other images, Cant seem to find the finals thread, though I saw it 2 days ago.

#91

An absolute Herculean effort, and its been worth the wait.

I am really lost for words as it is absolutely stunning.

#92

Well done fella, looks great, I also agree with Felix about a little more contrast, I thought I’d try a auto-level in PS, and this brings out some of the blue. Looking forward to seeing the new angle and again well done on a great piece and highly detailed it is too…

#93

Cool, means I can move on to another entry. Im doing the bike from akira.

#94

Looking absolutely fantastic there Rob, it has definately been worthwhile.
Good luck with the results, I can’t see you having much difficulty

#95

whoa that last shot close of looks cool  here’s that thread just incase you can;t find it again http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=208&t=752040

#96

I like some of the new angles a lot better. They really show off more of your great work in much better ways. I’d probably go with the first one in post #89.

Cheers!

#97

Heres the final with the position better altered.

#98

Hey Rob - congratulations on getting him finished!

I really love the broken up ground/pedestal… How did you do it?

In compositional terms, he’s getting a bit lost in all the surrounding colour/information… If the light source threw him into stronger contrast & shadow it could help add some definition. I also think some motion blur on the rocks & debris would really help push it.

Good luck!

AJ

You did a great job on this Rob.

I gotta be honest and tell you I wasn’t crazy about it at the beginning. The gemoetry masses were harsh and jarring, and your renders were kinda crazy. I was interested though and kept following closely. Towards the 2nd half of the challenge it really took off. Constant updates and dedication I believe made this entry what it was. The pose is VERY convincing and you can really see the power coursing through him based on this and his expression as well. Over all you ended up with a really great entry IMO.

You didn’t get any of my votes but there was a couple categories where you were a close second (best diorama was the closest), So I wanted to take the time and at least give you a mention here on your thread.

A great job on Mumm-Ra, my friend, and I’m really happy for you that you got it entered on time. Keep up the good work.
