Here are some of my reference images that I have found around the net. I will start modeling today! Starting with a normal human model then boxing out a bit of the suit.

This is only a small version of my reference image compilation, but you get the idea of what I’m going for, more towards the actual show than the comic book.

Most of the places I got the images from are named in the picture, the other’s i’m not to sure who made them.

You’ve foiled me for the last time Centurions!

If I finish my Doc Terror maybe we could have a little diorama.

#4

DOC TERROR I will never help you in your evil plans!

just kidding  I would love to :).

#5

Update, I modeled a face, then a head :). Ill post the updates on the upcomming posts!

#6

good going…waiting for the final output…

Hey guys I got an update, I was thinking of doing a scene like this one from the show. But should I model Jake with the armor or the armor on the machine?

#8

In my opinion, armor on the machine. It’ll give your scene depth and props.

#9

POWER EXTREME! Good luck! They are tough buggers to model!

#10

Hey guys I finally have updates. I am done the body model of Jake Rockwell. He looks a bit different from the references, but I think he looks cool :buttrock: .

I have a Wire and a little SSS shader I made. Done in mental ray and 3dsmax.

#11

aaww he looks kinda different, the render kinda reminded me though of Captain Planet :D. Hope to see Jake’s armor, Power Extreme!

#12

Thanks Raz, hopefully the hair and armor will fix that

#13

cool! looking fwd to seeing the rest! Hope i’ll get some time for Ace this weekend

#14

I have an update… Started working on the armor. Not going for exact but close you know? any suggestions are sooooooooooo welcome… cause after all I r noob

Oh and i went back to my old face… gotta work on that face! And should I make like real hair kinda with planes or just a head piece sculpted with zbrush… I’m thinking planes… Also umm yea throw me some suggestions plz

#15

That is a really cool wireframe render. Mind sharing your technique?

Model is looking great. A little more dense than I like to work with, but if it works for you then :buttrock:

I would model geometry and sculpt it in ZB. This is a modeling challenge, so I`m sure extra modeling will go a long way for votes. But This is a hypocritical statement coming from me; I plan on texturing my Smurfs as much as I can for final entry.
-In the long run I would just do what you feel least comfortable with, to get practice.

Thanks for you comment Rage.

For the wireframe render I did these steps-
I made a Composite material.
In the first slot I add a standard material, this is the base color.
In the second slot I add another standard material with the wire box checked with green color.
Then just hit render :).

I think I’m going to go for a sculpt hair first, then if that doesn’t work I will go for planes.

Ace needs help battling the forces of evil! POWER EXTREME! :buttrock:
