Hey here is my first color test. Got a bit stuck with Toadie so thought I would take a break and mock up a bit of color. I am actually fairly okay with it so far. I want to get the glasses looking better and look into creating some kind of velvet like shader for him.

Would love to hear what you guys are thinking.

hey amanda!

great progress.
is it me or is his arms a bit long?
also i think you could work out his chin a bit more. he looks a little to thin atm.

#25

Agree about the arms, the colors are nice

By the way what program are you use?

#26

Hey thanks for the comments RasmusW looking at it some more I can see what you mean about his arms.

With your comment about the chin are you saying his muzzle needs to be pulled out a bit more, he does he need a bit more underneath his muzzle?

As far as his weight goes I agree I think he could put a a bit more poundage I think he needs to be a bit rounder in the tummy. Also he ears need to be a bit rounder.

I really appreciate the comments very helpful.

I am using Maya 7

Yay! It’s looking great!

#28

Hey here is a quick update with some tweaks to the model, I shortened the arms and pulled out the chin a bit also realized that the cape actually has two pieces so did that as well but it didn’t show up in the render will have to fix that. Messed with his smile a bit more but still not quite feeling great about it.

I also tweaked the hat a bit, started tilting it just a bit to the left. I don’t know how much I want to push it since it seems mainly to flop to the back and front.

Thanks Oberyn and Rofideo

#29

Very nice:-) I always used to love the gummi bears (Although I was a bit too old, so never used to tell anyone  )

#30

This is so cute!
How do you plan to do the posing?

#31

Right now my plan is to finish up toadie I just started on him will post WIP soon. I want to have Zummi lifting Toadie with a spell so Toadie is upside down holding gummi bear juice.

At least that is the plan at the moment.

Thanks

Amanda

Kjello I wont tell Hee hee! I still love watching them!

#32

Hello

I sugest make the hat straight, then you can twist it with the rigging (for animation)
But cause its a modeling challenge you can let it that way to avoid deformation troubles.

Let me see if I found a velvet shader…

See you.

Thats a cool scene.

#33

hey amanda!

i did a quick paintover (hope that’s okay) to better describe what i was thinking of. i guess it’s basically to just do a softer curve.

Hey not a problem at all very helpful in fact. I see what your saying now, yeah that is something I can play with for sure.

Right now I am working on Toadie but when I get tired I will jump back over to Zummi.

I was going back and looking at my ref I think I need to make the medallion a bit bigger to while I am at it.

Thanks again for the help rasmusW

#35

lol I remember that show! I used to watch it quite a lot.

Great progress here. I’m looking forward to more.

Cheers!

#36

Thanks

Here is a quick update on Toadwart I have been struggling a bit with his face so it’s going slow but thought I would put this up. Fairly happy with his nose.

#37

I loved the Gummi Bears, good progress there!
You are about to make the trolls? dont know how they were named in english.

Good luck!

Hello Amanda

I found a nice settings for “velvet”

Its a blinn material, the base color are a little dark
Then change the specular color the same but litle more ligth
Finish change the settings like this.

Is easy and looks nice in render.

By the way this is not my tutorial
I found here long time ago, but dont remember the autors name

About the ears from Toaddy
I found the easies way is “draw the borders” with the Create poligon tool,
This is easiest if you put a imageplane in the side view and just copy the borders
Estrude few times to inside
Then move some edge loops in and other out and Voila a nice ear.

Sorry but dont have a image at hand

#39

Hey thanks Rofideo this is great! Huge help. As far as the ears go I hadn’t really started doing anything but extrude a couple of edges. But I like your process thanks.

LMG

Yeah I am going to be modeling Toadie the little hench Ogre of the Duke’s
