HARDCORE MODELING!: 80's Cartoon: Danger Mouse

#41

Latest lunchtime update :-

Not happy with this as I prefer the chubbier base mesh! I will tweak to match at some point

#42

oh crumb’s …

very nice, maybe if you narrow the mouth a bit. it looks a bit squarer in the reference

slow down mate, i cant keep up …:surprised

#43

Your wish is my command, well after this update as I’m going to get a bike ride in due to great weather today

I’m also going to stop DM for a while and concentrate a little time on my other project…

#44

Penfolds shaping up nicely but maybe he could have pudgier cheeks?

#45

Good work on Penfold so far - he’s my favorite DM character! I really like the facial expression. You’ve captured his cowardice well. I also like how you modeled the eyes separately from the glasses.

Only thing I see at the moment is maybe the snout could be wider (not sure what to call that part - I don’t mean the ball on the end of the nose). From the top view, it looks a little narrow and not quite round enough.

#46

the models are looking great can’t wait to see your finished entry

#47

@Cindy, thanks, well as I want to do a scene for the characters, in a right pickle! I think having extra strong glasses will allow me to distort the environment around Penfold, i.e. if he’s running/falling then the glasses won’t be where they are now, so I hope it will add some dynamic to the scene.

@Wayne, thanks, I’m looking forward to getting something setup, I’ve even mentioned to a friend that if all goes well I might do a fan type cartoon! As there is little animation I don’t think this would be too difficult!?

#48

Looking good! I love the frog! One thing on Penfold, the cheeks look a little smooth, the 2d ref on the cheeks look very plump under the eyes. Great work so far!

#49

Hey, great progress so far  I’m really liking the work to date - the strongest DM here methinks. Looking forward to seeing these guys in a scene

#50

Latest update, I’ve fleshed out the cheeks a little to give a chubbier feel :-

I’m going to keep the porcelain look for now, I will surface (not texture) them at some point. I may texture but I think I can get away without it ala Greenback. Things may change further down the line…

#51

I’ve finished (except a few tweaks) on Penfold for now, no tie as yet, I might model the knot if I’m not lazy! For now a quick render instead of screen grab :-

There’s some weird artfiacting around Penfold, it’s nothing to do with the character object, need to investigate at some point…

#52

your models continue to impress.

i think i’d like to see penfold with a little bit of a rounder nose and perhaps some cloth pulls in his shirt to again add to the pudgey factor. that’s mostly nitpicking though as i think he looks great

#53

Thanks Wil/Axiomitic, I did a little detail on the button area but that’s all, and I really do need to put more stertches in. But for now I decided to just get the critter surfaced :-

#54

looking good Scott …

for some reason Penfold’s body doesn’t look so round with his jacket on. has he been dieting …

#55

Continuously very sweet work, Scott! What else is there to say?!

Cheers!

#56

nice smooth characters ,well done

#57

Thanks

Here’s a rigged test on GreenBack, initial test and there are problems. I’m using Maestro2 alongside LW/FPrime, I think I need to re-adjust the bones and I’ll have solved pretty quickly!?

Here’s a turntable :-

#58

Penfold looks like he is seriously going to kick someones ass!

Seriously, he is looking good but needs to be slightly more chubby, and the shoulder-loops of the jacket need to be sharper as well - bearing in mind he is wearing a suit/blazer.

#59

Greenbacks looking good. Is his nose a little pointy on the turntable? Not sure if that’s from reference but it struck me that toads have flatter faces… but then i don’t really see a lot of toads so heh

#60

@Wil, I think the pointiness came along when I added the Maestro rig to Greenback, I need to refine the rig to suit a chubby face as it’s a standard bi-ped rig! I hate rigging as it is and now I need to learn which bone affects which areas, hmphhhhh…

@Steven, Ta for the crit, I have modified him a little since you posted

The latest update is a new addition to the cast :-

I wasn’t sure if I was going to add him, but then he is a bastardised Penfold, thank god for the sculpt/move tool  Thank god for the push contrain tool too

I have noticed since uploading this image his jaw isn’t quite wide enough so will fix that, also he has Penfolds body still so I will flesh that out to suit a bigger Colonel K. I have been losing my focus the last couple of days, I’m sure I’ll get back on track and add the few remaining characters real soon…
