HARDCORE MODELING!: 80's Cartoon: Danger Mouse

#1

Hi all,

My 1st ever Hardcore modelling challenge, having checked the 80’s cartoon list DM just stood out for me! Whilst not technically challenging I decided to model all the characters shown here. Their is a young Greenback and his sidekick being the egg, I need to find a decent reference for the crow!

Anyway I best make a start…

#2

OK I made a start, using modo for all processes including rendering, may use LW towards the final stages for posing and rendering!?

#3

LOL, Danger Mouse rocks. Good luck mate!

#4

Here’s about an hour into it, I’ve got to sort out the edgeloops eventually, but for now I’m fleshing the model out a little.

#5

Nice start Scott.
Great to see another MODOer in this challenge too!

Another hour gone by :-

Really enjoying this challenge so far, I hope to have DM finished off in a few hours exlcuding the proper edgeloop process.

#7

And hes off! Looking good although he seems to be lacking a bit on his chest. LOL, ol DM looks like hes let himself go a bit…

#8

hehe, i think his ears might be a bit on the small side too

#9

looks like a good start, though maybe his eyes are a bit too close together …

good luck

#10

Thanks guys,

I’ve done a few little alterations and that’s it for today :-

The belt is pre fat elvis stage

#11

Hes coming along nicely

#12

Thanks Steve,

I’m motivated by the nature of this challenge and a good one you suggested too

Spent some more time closing the mouth off and doing the hands! God I hate hands and I wish I could pose them already!

#13

OK a little more time spent finishing up the basic model :-

I tried posing him with the Flex tool but when it came to the hands I gave up, as I haven’t finished certain details to allow posing I thought it was a worthless effort. I wish I had bones!!!

That’s it for today anyway…

#14

That is bloody good for a days work.

#15

indeed it is … well done

#16

this looks cool! have you had a bit of time on your hands?

#17

Thanks guys,

@honestdom, yes I have a bit of downtime at the moment and while I do I want to make the best start I can during this challenge.

It’s just gone 06.30 and I’ve made yet another start :-

Looking forward to getting Greenback on the way, eyes are totally wrong at the mo’ but it will flesh out I’m sure. Just noticed the legs on DM are too short and the body needs refining, will prob do that when I get into tweak mode…

#18

An hour into the design :-

#19

Latest update, about an hour added, I was going to wimp out on doing the body as you’ll never see it. I was going to just do the head and add clothing around it but kinda thought it would be cheating…

Anyways :-

hey scott!

looking good. cool that you do all of those characters.
a few crits… for dangermouse, the thing that stands most out to me is the hands. i think you can work more on those. -try look at your ref of greenback, they look much more “alive”. the fingertips are cut flat, which looks wrong, imo.
the shape of his ears and torso are a tad off aswell. judgeing from your ref.

i got a few for greenback aswell. i think you could round of his cheek. right now your version looks too angulare.
his eyes are bagging more aswell.

hope you don’t find this too harsh.
