Half-Life 2 Mod: Megaman: Source needs some assistance.

Hello,
I am the Leader of Megaman: Arena, a game using the Quake 3 arena engine under the gpl, and I am in need of some assistance. I already have all the permissions sorted out from Capcom to use the Megaman name and content. Our current team consists of four people, they are a Coder, Modeler, Mapper, and Web Designer. I am currently in need of a CGI/GFX Artist, a model animator, model skinner, and a texture artist. I have seen your past work and I am very impressed with it’s quality. These positions won’t pay anything, although i wish i could afford to pay you, and the mod will be free as well. This project is being done only because we wish to make a nice mod for everyone to enjoy. I was actually really nervous about posting in here seeing as all of you are “the gods of gaming” and this is the “mount olympus” of all forums, but you all seem like nice people so i decided to give it a shot.

The CGI/GFX Artist will be expected to:
Make new topics icons, downloads page icons, forum post icons, and the referral link logo.

The Model animator will be expected to:
Animate character models for use in gameplay such as attack, movement, and death animations for all character and enemy models.

The Model skinner will be expected to:
Make custom skins for both the character and enemy models.

The Texture artist will be expected to:
Make custom textures for the maps, as well as any other item needed.

about how much would it cost me for someone to animate and rig up about 10 or 15 player models?

one noob question:
which software shall one use to do rigging and animating? shall i use my 3d app or the half life 2 engine?
because i’ve never been in gaming industry before.

I really wish I could help you out on this! I modled and rigged a megaman and protoman model about 4 years ago in SI|3D it was sweet. Since then thugh I have been away and am just nowe getting back into this stuff. It will probably be at least 5 to 6 months before I would be to the level to help out at all. In 6 moths though, if you are still working on this and still need help with regards to models, riggin g or animation I would LUV to help out!

we will be entering the final beta stages soon, we still need help. we changed the name of it and made it standaloane.

HI yeah i’d be interested in doing the animations but i take it you’d be using XSI ??
If so gutted as i loved the originall megaman but XSI just won’t run on my system at mo due to how small my monitor is.

Now if the animation was in Character Studio that would be a different matter :slight_smile: (hint hint)

I have a showreel i could send ya.

Hello, we are intrested in seeing what you can do. You can send a link to the video to cecpuman@yahoo.com and you can use character studio to animate our models. Also if u can rig, it would be a big plus.

well I have some good news. Megaman: Arena is going to be featured in the february edition of PCzone magazine! this is very exciting for us, because it means alot of publicity for the game.

I know its been a while since i posted, but i have some more great news. My coder has redone the code, the graphics now surpass that of quake 4 and half-life 2 by far. we can still use a good skinner and maybe some good mappers also.

Mind clearing up some confusion for me, Is this a Source mod or a Quake 3 mod?
If you are using the Quake 3 engine, what license will the game data be distributed under?
And also what operating systems and platforms are you hoping to support?

Well its for the quake 3 engine under the lgpl, and it will support windows and linux. I cant change the main title of the thread for some reason. If I could there would be no confusion.

what type of modeler? environment, prop, or character? or ideally all three would be one…haha.
