Hairfarm Woes

#1

Hey everyone.
So I’m a fairly new hairfarm user, and was curious if anyone had any experience with the issue I’m dealing with.

I’m wanting to drive essentially a cloth ribbon like simulation with the hairfarm dynamics.
I can get a good looking sim pretty easily and quickly, but when I use a HairTo Poly or HairTo Polystrips modifier, I’m getting all kinds of twisting happening around each of the “hairs”.

Here’s a screenshot of a basic setup where this happens. Individual polystrips will rotate quickly around what would be their Z axis. Giving the illusion that their normals are flipping from one frame to another.

Is there anyway to get these things to stop rotating around that axis?

Thanks in advance!

It’s probably because they’re generally pointing straight outwards and it doesn’t know which way is supposed to be the top, usually the hair would be arched and that would indicate where the polygons should face. But since it goes out and even with the noise it can’t figure out a static direction.

That is true, unfortunately I need to have them ticking more or less straight out.

I have noticed though in some instances, the root will stay oriented properly, while the tip of the hair will do the flipping.

I’m going to try a few other methods and see what I get, cloth simulations just arent giving me the dynamic look that I need.

Maybe a TP Rope sim would be best.

Oh well, thanks for the reply man!
