Hair texture map issue

This is just a test render.

(This is on one of my DA account.)

Some Girl I created and rendered in Blender 2.49b, using Blender Internal render with AO and Ray Traced Shadows.

I having some issues with the top hair located near the forehead area. The transparency isn’t really working there. FYI, all the hair are exact duplicate of each other just some are slightly modify, so they all share the same texture map which is a png with transparency. Oh, and there is zero specularity for the shaders.

For some reason, I am only seeing this problem when I turn position the light at that angle with ray trace shadows. Once I move the light somewhere else, that same hair issue is gone but shows up elsewhere on the other hair.

So, is there a way to fix it?

I’ve also experience this same issue in Max too.

Hello,

I’m assuming the problem is that you can still see the face(as in polygon) in which the texture is placed upon. Have you tried using an alpha map on the hair texture?
