Hair linked to fur has no effect on the fur

Hi, I’ve attached a hair system to fur but if I simulate it and let the hair move, the rendered image displays all the fur in the exact same place, like it is not linked.

There are around 1 million bits of fur, with a hair grid around 30x30 to simulate this (I know it’s not the most accurate but I just want simple movement). It’s quite a large ground plane which is why I need the amount of fur, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

edit: it works fine on a smaller scale, is there something I could have accidentally disabled in the fur?

Look for a node that’s something like “furCurveAttractors” or something like that and try increasing radius.

EDIT:

Did some tests, make sure that the hair system is curves not pfx hair, you may also need to adjust “End Length” and DO NOT TOUCH START LENGTH!!! Every time I moved the “Start Length” slider I got a lovely Maya crash… been like that for years now I’m pretty sure.
