Hair+decals question ( please )

#1

Hello folks. How do I use the older version hair locks and use a diffuse color decal on it ?
As a test to see if I was just doing something stupid, I created a simple strip of 5 - 6 cps. I then extruded them outwards, resulting in a strip.
I then created a new material while holding down the ‘shift’ key.
I then selected ( rt. clicked ) a cp on the spline and applied the material to the spline resulting in a ‘hair-lock’.
I then stamp on decal onto the strip directly over the hair lock and specify that I want it to be an ‘other’ decal > change properties driven to diffuse color …

= nothing happens . What did I do wrong

I’m planning to use the hair lock feature over the newer hair because it is more easily styled for things like curly hair ( which my model will have )

You have to change map types to “properties driven” to affect the hair properties. I haven’t tried this with hair locks, so I don’t know if you can use it with them… This older type of hair system will not let you adjust the properties along the length like the new system does.

Uh … yeah … I forgot to mention that one. Already done, but still no effect what-so-ever.

I’m just gonna say f-it and go with a short , all to common ‘pixie’ style hair cut.
At least it will render faster.

Thanks again Zan. You da man zan. :scream:
