can I ask you for help?!
What should I buy for my new workstation - 3Ds Max / Vray = GTX 980 x2 or Titan Black
I need it for modeling in Max, and for making project demo renderings in VrayRT (in lover resolution)?!
Could VrayRT take advantage of two 980 cards when rendering (2048 CUDA x2 and 4GB RAM x2) and thus be faster than a single GTX Titan?!

The Titan, since as mentionned in another thread here, there doesn’t seem to be any support for sli or xfire in 3DS Max or Maya.
You probably talking about viewport support for modeling?!
I’m asking because VrayRT have option for using two or more GPUs in rendering process.
Do you know what is better for GPU rendering?
I don’t plan to use GPU for some serious rendering (because of limitation in VrayRT, only for demos - still I would prefer to buy faster option.

If you are only using it for the cuda, then get 2 980s. That’s 4096 Cuda Cores vs 2880. You’ll also gain 2 GB VRAM…
It’s my understanding that VRam isn’t combined. Each cards memory is independent of the other, not pooled, hence why they have planned a 8Gb version of the 980.
Edit: Each GPU needs to have all the assets loaded in its own VRam buffer.
So while you may have more CUDA cores going Dual, you will max out at 4GB while the Titan will load larger scenes.
SLI and crossfire are techniques for combining multiple cards to act as a single faster card, this doesnt work for CG software. Rendering with CUDA/openCL apps can use multiple cards, just dont set them up as SLI/crossfire, just leave them as individual cards.
I know what SLi and XFire means. I mentionned them in term of viewport acceleration not in term of rendering.
The Titan has more vRam which will be beneficial on big scene. The 2x 980 vram won’t and can’t be pooled so the max will be 4Gb. If more speed is needed than what a single titan can bring then you can add another one or a couple of Tesla (if you are the son of Warren Buffet 
)
